On Wednesday October 27th, the Saint Francis Overwatch team met, along with some of their supporters, in the Esports arena to play a match against the Greensboro College Pride. The game began at 8pm EST. Game one was decided to be played in Ilios by Greensboro(the hosting team). The starting line-up was as follows:
Emariii as Baptiste
JimJam as McCree
Vespid as D. Va
Ozoneneutral as Hanzo
Cherry as Reinhardt
Cicada as Lucio
Round one started with success for Saint Francis. The team won the first fight, which allowed them to take control of the point. Once they earned control, they steam-rolled through Greensboro's defenses to win round one in a 100% sweep. Round two offered a sense of dejavu as the Red Flash won the first fight and thus took control of the point. Once they had control of the point again, the team could taste victory--they swept the Greensboro Pride 100-0. This back-to-back victory ended game one. The play of the game was awarded to SFU's own Ozoneneutral for his impressive double kill.
Game two was played in Route 66, per Greensboro's request. SFU's starting line-up included:
Emariii as Baptiste
Chieftain as JunkRat
Vespid as Sigma
Ozoneneutral as Hanzo
Cherry as Orisa
Cicada as Zenyatta
SFU chose to play round one on defense, making their mission to stop the payload. The Red Flash allowed Greensboro to reach the first checkpoint, but didn't allow much leeway after that. At the end of round one, the payload had only moved a total of 121.72 m. In round two, SFU began moving the payload within seconds. After this strong start, SFU breezed through the first checkpoint, leaving over five minutes to surpass the distance achieved by Greensboro. This was completed with ease as SFU won game two with over four and a half minutes to spare. Play of the game was awarded to SFU's Chieftain for his astounding long-distance double kill.
Game three's map was again chosen by Greensboro college. This time, they selected Hanamura to go against SFU in the attack objective. The starting line-up for SFU included:
Emariii as Baptiste
JimJam as Ashe
Vespid as Sigma
Ozoneneutral as Hanzo
Cherry as Reinhardt
Cicada as Zenyatta
SFU once again chose to begin the match by defending the objective from Greensboro's attack. It wasn't until there was less than a minute remaining before Greensboro captured any percentage of the objective. Even then, they only captured it with seconds to spare in overtime. This string of luck allowed them another three minutes to capture the second objective. Even with this allotted time, they were completely unsuccessful. This meant that going into round two, SFU simply had to capture the first objective and any portion of the second. SFU captured the first point with two minutes and forty-five seconds on the clock; this, combined with the additional three minutes, gave them nearly six minutes to capture a percentage of objective two. At this point, the arena filled with excitement as the smell of victory was in the air. Once the mission was complete, the arena erupted with cheers and congratulations as messages of "gg" filled the game chat. Play of the game was once again awarded to Ozoneneutral as Hanzo for his impressive quadruple kill!
Stay tuned next week to find out if SFU can further improve their record on Wednesday November 3rd at 8pm EST in the Red Flash Esports Arena.
