After coming off of a forfeited gamed last week, the SFU Rocket League team had an exciting match against Upper Iowa University. SFU was able to come together and work as a team, and came out victorious in the match.
As the first game went underway, both teams came out with an aggressive offensive front which caused the ball to be going back and forth between each team. As the game went on, SFU was trying their best to get the ball in the net, while still keeping a strong defensive line. Two of SFU's players: s u s, and Dsvid, each had a save during the game, keeping the opponents from scoring. Unfortunately, UIU saw an opening in the net with a minute left of the game as they were able to score a goal, giving UIU the win of the first game 0-1.
Before the second game began, SFU came together and came up with the idea to come out on a more defensive side. For the first few minutes of the game, their plan was working. UIU came out strong on the offensive side but SFU was able to be there and get many saves that the opponents were shooting on net. Ultimately, UIU had such a strong offensive line, they were able to get passed SFU and score 3 goals by the end of the game, giving UIU their second win 0-3.
As SFU dealt with their second loss, they decided to go back to back to an offensive approach because they thought they would succeed better, and it worked. As the third game started, SFU came out swinging offensively trying to push the net and get as many goals as possible. SFU's own Dsvid was able to get the first goal of the game two minutes into the game. However, UIU was right on their tail and was able to score two goals back to back. As UIU was trying to score, SFU's (s u s) was able to save it, and score it from the opposing side of the field, tying the game at 2. Dsvid was able to score another goal shortly after, giving them the lead. By the end of the game, SFU was able to keep their lead and win the third game 3-2.
Coming off of the high from the third game, SFU wanted to keep up the offensive play heading into the fourth game. UIU caught onto their offensive plan and pushed up their defensive strategies. The game continued on and ended with a score of 0-0, leading it into overtime. SFU kept up the offense and Dsvid was able to score a goal in overtime, giving SFU their second win 1-0.
Tensions were running high for game five as this was the last game of the match, as both teams had two wins under their belts. SFU kept up with the offensive strategy, as it helped them the previous two games. As game five began, SFU began to dominate the field and scored two goals early on in the game, giving them the lead once again. By the end of the game, SFU was able to get two more goals into the net, and only letting UIU score once. SFU was able to come back from the first two games and clench a win 4-1.
Tune in next Monday night at 8EST to see if the SFU Rocket League team can keep up their winning streak.
