Overwatch Red Squad Falls to Johnson & Wales After Strong Fight

SFU came into Wednesday's match with high energy and were ready to take on Johnson & Wales University's Yellow Overwatch Squad.

Game 1 - Control Point Map: Lijiang Tower

Game 1 Round 1 Hero Choices:

Emariii – Moira

Chieftain - Sombra

Passione – Reaper

Cherry – Reinhardt

Frost – Lucio

Cicada - Zarya

Johnson & Wales came out of the gate and took over the point early. After some attempts at gaining control of the point, SFU's efforts finally paid off and the team was able to take the point away from Johnson & Wales. Emariii was a defining factor in this push, using her hero's ultimate to heal her teammates and damage the enemy team. SFU was not able to hold the point for very long, as Johnson & Wales was able to execute a team kill and take the point up to 99% control. SFU made a huge push and held strong on the point, coupled with Cicada's triple kill using his hero's ultimate, and was able to take the opening round of the match.

Round 2 Hero Choices were the same as Round 1.

This round, SFU was able to drive Johnson & Wales to retreat and take the point early on in the round. Johnson & Wales was able to force multiple regroups for SFU and kept SFU from being able to gain any control on the point. Johnson & Wales took round 2 and forced the map to go to round 3.

Round 3 Hero Choices:

Emariii – Moira

Chieftain - Junkrat

Passione – Reaper

Cherry – Reinhardt

Frost – Lucio

Cicada - Zarya

Chieftain and Cicada came out strong at the beginning of this round with two eliminations each. However, Johnson & Wales was able to make a strong push to the point and overtake SFU. After a SFU regroup, Cherry used his ultimate to counter at the right time and got a triple fire strike kill. Johnson & Wales was able to hold on though, taking the round and the first game.

SFU was able to use the map's layout as an advantage by utilizing the entrances to the point and forcing Johnson & Wales to funnel through a single doorway. SFU was able to fend off Johnson & Wales for some time by using this strategy. With three and a half minutes left in the round, SFU executed a team kill along with a triple kill and four assists from Cicada. Ultimately Johnson & Wales took both control points and the round.
