Overwatch Beats Down University of Albany

On Wednesday, October 7th, the Overwatch team met in the esports arena located in the JFK student center. It was then that they would take on the University of Albany's (UA) D team. The match was one of the shortest Saint Francis Overwatch has ever played, lasting less than 30 minutes. The starting line-up included:

Vespid as D.Va

Cicada as Lucio

Emariii as Baptiste

Ozoneneutral as McCree

Cherry as Reinhardt

Chieftain as Symmetra

Game one was chosen to be played in Lijiang Tower, by the Red Flash. SFU took point  control first. Chieftain picked off Reinhardt immediately, which ultimately led to success in the first fight. This left SFU with 20% control, they were then able to hold point and wait for the other team to engage. Once SFU had 45% control, Baptiste's altimate allowed Cherry to get a 3 person kill, which led to another fight won by the Red Flash. Albany again tried to engage, but their attempts ultimately were proven unsuccessful, ending round 1 with no SFU deaths. Round 2 was played on the control center map of Lijiang Tower. The team was able to take the high ground above the point, due to their Lucio which Albany did not have. SFU skillfully utilized the difference in competition styles to apply pressure against the more laid-back style of UA. This caused UA to attempt a new style of double shield, which also was proven ineffective. SFU ultimately dominated game one with 2, 100% control wins. Play of the game was awarded to Cicada as Lucio for his hilarious triple kill.

Game two was chosen to be played in Route 66 by the University of Albany. The starting line-up for the escort objective included:

Vespid as Roadhog

Cicada as Zenyatta

Emariii as Baptiste

Ozoneneutral as Hanzo

Cherry as Orisa

JimJam as Widowmaker

SFU chose to play round 1 on defense. JimJam was able to pick-off their Sigma, which led to the disengagement of the first fight. Cicada then picked-off Reinhardt via Baptiste's window and JimJam picked-off their Orisa, again causing the rest of the team to die in the second fight of the round. Ozoneneutral used the Dragon Strike to pick-off their main tank and main support.lLater in the round, he again used the Dragon Strike ability to pick-off another pair of players. Ozoneneutral's attacks led to the end of the round with only 44.92 m under UA's belt. Round 2 began with SFU applying pressure which led to JimJam picking off 3 major players, ultimately securing the round for the Red Flash. SFU won Game 2 after only forty-one seconds. JimJam earned play of the game by simply going unseen by UA, which allowed him to wipe out their backline.

UA again chose to play game 3 in Hollywood. Starting line-up for the final game included:

Vespid as D.Va

Cicada as Zenyatta

Emariii as Ana

Ozoneneutral as Widowmaker

Cherry as Reinhardt

Chieftain as Symmetra

Right out of the gate, Ozoneneutral flanked and was able to achieve a pick on Moira; this caused a lack of healing on UA's part. This underperformance caused SFU to sail through the rest of the round with ease. The second and final round began with four minutes on the clock and was over with three minutes and twenty-seven seconds remaining. Team captain, Cicada, again earned play of the game with his astounding double kill.

Tune in next week on October 13th at 8pm EST  to find out if the Saint Francis Overwatch team will improve their record of 1-1 against their next opponent.
