On Saturday, April 24th, and Sunday, April 25th Red Flash player Evan "Vespid" Messner competed in the 
Magic: The Gathering Melee Extra Life United tournament. The tournament consisted of a round robin play in format on Saturday. Players competed for the top seated positions for Sunday's playoff matches. Messner went undefeated in Saturday's round robin with a 6-0 record, and was seated first at the start of Sunday's playoffs. During Sunday's playoff round, the top 16 players would take home prize winnings to their designated children's hospital that they identified when registering for the tournament. Messner ended the tournament with a 9th place finished overall, which granted him 
$2,000 to be designated to the 
Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville, PA.
Messner commented the following on his experience in the tournament, "
I participated in the Extra Life tournament because I recently got back into Magic the Gathering and wanted to join a tournament. I participated in the school's Extra Life event last semester and really enjoyed myself, so I was looking forward to participating again this year."
Miranda "Frost" Snyder also participated in the tournament with a 35th place finish.
