The Forest Hills Rangers recently celebrated their first two students to receive collegiate esports scholarships. The Rangers invited members of the Saint Francis Esports program to celebrate Lexi Bjornberg, who signed her National Intent to Compete form through the
National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). Bjornberg plans to double major in Occupational Therapy, and Psychology while competing in Fortnite within the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for the Red Flash.
Bjornberg was interviewed during the event regarding her commitment to Saint Francis Esports, and below are her responses.
What do you like about the program at the school you chose? How do you feel you fit into the program?
"Saint Francis has the best Occupational Therapy program, and it feels like a home away from home. When I visited the program felt like one big family, and was super welcoming. I feel that I am a fit because I get very focused while playing, and I have been seeing a lot of success in my personal matches."
What are your strengths for the program? What sets you apart from other competitors?
"I feel that my strengths are that I am very competitive, I'm a quick learner, and I'm committed to improving. What sets me apart is that I have a strategy for each match, and I stick to my strategy."
What part of your game would you like to improve on?
"Building, I need to utilize creative mode more often, and practice my building. This is a critical part of the game, but I'm ready for the challenge."
Bjornberg will begin competing for the Red Flash next school year as part of the Fall 2021 recruiting class.
