Match One – Control, Map – Oasis
In an exhilarating start to the season opener, SFU leaped to the high ground on the objective, only allowing Behrend to secured 32% of the objective before ultimately taking control. When SFU gained 80% control of the objective, Behrend began to use all of their character's ultimates to try and flush SFU out of the objective. This strategy would prove of no use, as SFU took the first round.
Round Two proved to be a little more challenging as Behrend was able to defend the objective and obtain a score of 68%. With some quick thinking and rotating, Cicada and OzoneNeutral were able to push back the defense and bid enough time to even the score. The round went into overtime and SFU came out victorious with a score of 100-99. OzoneNeutral earned the play of the game as Sojourn, highlighting his excellent talents on the high ground.
Match Two – Hybrid, Map – Midtown
With Jellyfam14 substituting in for Dnaki, SFU took to defense. In Round One, SFU made excellent line-of-sight positions to prevent Behrend's advances on the objective. SFU won the round without allowing Behrend to obtain the first objective.
With Behrend's inability to score in the last round, SFU on attack only needed to capture one objective. Teamwork and communication made quick work of Behrend's defense and within 53 seconds of the match starting, SFU claimed Round Two and the match point. Cicada earned the play of the game as Zarya, showcasing the end of a 15-elimination streak.
Match Three – Escort, Map – Havana
Dnaki substituted back in for Jellyfam14 and SFU was tasked with stopping the payload. Each of the three payload routes consisted of 100 meters. Behrend was good at maintaining progress throughout the entire round, however, was unable to escort the payload the remaining 40 meters to close out the objective.
With this in mind, SFU's strategy maintained Behrend from stopping their payload for prolonged periods of time, allowing SFU to push their payload the extra meter past Behrend's, winning the match and the game. Play of the game was earned by Behrend's D34DH4ND as Zarya, showcasing his persistence in factory.
